Egg yolk powder could help heal traumatic brain injuries
NCT ID NCT04117672
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a special egg yolk powder called Salovum can help people with severe traumatic brain injury. Half of the 20 participants get Salovum, the other half get a placebo. Researchers will measure brain pressure, oxygen levels, and inflammation to see if the treatment helps.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Salovum (antisecretory factor enriched egg yolk powder)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a new way to lower brain pressure and inflammation after severe head injury, potentially improving recovery.
What could go wrong
This is a very small early-phase trial with only 20 people, so results may not apply broadly. The treatment is a dietary supplement, so the effect may be modest or absent.
