Saltwater IV may boost exercise in POTS patients

NCT ID NCT01000350

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether a simple IV infusion of saline (salt water) given a few hours before exercise can improve how long and how hard people with postural tachycardia syndrome (POTS) can exercise. Forty adults with POTS will exercise after receiving either saline or a placebo pill, and their peak oxygen use and exercise load will be compared. The goal is to see if this short-term treatment can ease symptoms during exercise.
