Washing kidneys to stop hidden virus: new trial aims to make transplants safer
NCT ID NCT07488481
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early-stage trial tests whether treating a donor kidney with a drug called SYN002 before transplant can safely reduce the risk of passing cytomegalovirus (CMV) to the recipient. About 12 adults waiting for a kidney transplant will receive a treated organ. The main goal is to see if the kidney works well after transplant and if the treatment is safe.
