NCT ID NCT05933174
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study helps older adults with type 2 diabetes talk to their doctors about switching from sulfonylurea drugs, which can cause dangerous low blood sugar and heart problems, to newer, safer options. About 220 participants will get either a simple question sheet to guide their next doctor visit or a general brochure. The goal is to see if this approach leads to more conversations and safer medication use.

What this could lead to
If this works, it could help older adults with type 2 diabetes switch from risky sulfonylurea drugs to safer, more effective medications, reducing harm.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial focused on conversations, not a direct test of a new drug. The intervention may not lead to actual medication changes or improved health outcomes.
