Could a magnetic helmet ease MS symptoms?

NCT ID NCT07451600

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a non-invasive brain stimulation technique called rTMS can reduce muscle stiffness (spasticity) and improve balance in people with multiple sclerosis. Researchers will compare real rTMS to a sham (fake) treatment in 24 adults aged 18-60 with MS. The goal is to see if this approach can also help with walking, joint movement, and pain.

What this could lead to

If it works, this could offer a non-invasive option to ease muscle stiffness and improve balance for people with multiple sclerosis.

What could go wrong

This is a small, early-stage trial with only 24 participants. Results may not apply to everyone, and the effects might be modest or temporary.
