Magnetic pulses to the brain could ease stubborn nerve pain
NCT ID NCT05593237
First seen Mar 26, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study tests whether a non-invasive treatment called repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) can reduce chronic neuropathic pain—pain from nerve damage that lasts over 6 months. About 32 adults with conditions like post-stroke pain, trigeminal neuralgia, or spinal cord injury will receive daily rTMS sessions to a brain area involved in pain. The goal is to see if this approach safely lowers pain intensity and helps identify better targets for those who don't respond.
