Summary
This study tested a surgical technique called Regenerative Peripheral Nerve Interface (RPNI) to prevent or treat painful nerve growths (neuromas) in people who had a leg amputated. The surgery involves placing the cut nerve end into a small piece of muscle to give the nerve a healthy place to grow. Researchers followed 132 participants and used surveys to measure pain, medication use, and quality of life.
