New hope for amputees: nerve surgery may ease phantom limb pain

Summary

This study looks at two types of nerve surgery to treat stubborn pain after amputation (phantom limb pain and stump pain). About 98 adults who have had pain for at least 6 months and haven't had prior pain surgery will be followed for 2 years. The goal is to see if either surgery reduces pain and improves quality of life. Participants fill out short questionnaires about pain and daily function.
