NCT ID NCT07241650
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study looks at different ways to clean a tooth during a root canal to see which causes the least pain and improves quality of life. 90 adults with a specific type of tooth infection will be randomly assigned to one of three irrigation methods. They will report their pain levels at several time points over a week and complete a quality-of-life questionnaire.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
Sodium hypochlorite (bleach) and HEDP (a chelating agent) used as irrigation solutions during root canal treatment
What this could lead to
If successful, this could identify a better way to clean root canals, leading to less pain and faster recovery after treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study (90 people) comparing different techniques, so results may not apply to all patients or root canal cases. Pain is subjective and varies widely.
