Can a platelet booster keep chemo on track for lymphoma patients?
NCT ID NCT04673266
First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase 2 study tested whether the drug romiplostim can prevent severe low platelet counts caused by chemotherapy in people with lymphoma. Eleven adult patients received weekly injections of romiplostim during their 21-day chemo cycles. The goal was to see if it could reduce the need for chemo delays, dose reductions, or platelet transfusions.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
romiplostim
What this could lead to
If it works, this could help lymphoma patients avoid chemotherapy delays and platelet transfusions due to low platelet counts.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase study with only 11 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The drug may not prevent severe thrombocytopenia in all patients.
