Robot vs. scope: which is better for spotting lung nodules?
NCT ID NCT06962436
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two ways to biopsy suspicious lung nodules: a robotic-assisted bronchoscopy and an ultrathin bronchoscope with virtual navigation. About 186 participants will be randomly assigned to one method. The goal is to see if the robotic approach is at least as good at getting a clear diagnosis.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that robotic-assisted bronchoscopy is a reliable alternative for diagnosing lung nodules, potentially improving accuracy and patient outcomes.
What could go wrong
This is a non-inferiority trial, meaning it only aims to prove the robotic method is not worse than the current standard. It may not show a clear advantage, and results may not apply to all patients or settings.
