Could a pill and light combo beat vitiligo?

NCT ID NCT07152626

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests whether taking a daily pill (ritlecitinib) plus twice-weekly narrowband UVB light therapy works better than the pill alone for vitiligo. About 56 adults with non-segmental vitiligo covering 4-60% of their body will take part. The main goal is to see how much skin color returns on the face and body after 52 weeks of treatment.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Ritlecitinib (a JAK inhibitor pill) and narrowband UVB light therapy
What this could lead to
If this combination works better than the pill alone, it could offer a more effective treatment option for vitiligo, helping to restore skin color more quickly.
What could go wrong
This is a Phase 2 trial with only 56 participants, so results are still early. The added benefit of UVB may be small, and UVB requires frequent clinic visits.
