Experimental triple therapy takes on Hard-to-Treat Head-Neck cancer

NCT ID NCT05838729

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 2 times

Summary

This early-phase trial is testing a new drug called RiMO-301, given as an injection directly into the tumor, along with radiation therapy and an immunotherapy drug (a PD-1 inhibitor). The goal is to see if this combination is safe and can shrink tumors in people with advanced head-neck cancer that cannot be removed by surgery. The study plans to enroll 16 participants.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

RiMO-301 (a drug injected into the tumor) combined with radiation therapy and a PD-1 inhibitor (pembrolizumab or nivolumab)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward a new treatment option for people with advanced head-neck cancer that has not responded to other therapies.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, small trial with only 16 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The combination therapy may cause serious side effects or fail to shrink tumors.
