Smart wearables could predict COPD attacks and cut hospital stays

NCT ID NCT06890767

First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 6 times

Summary

This study tracks 50 COPD patients who have been hospitalized for a sudden worsening of their condition (called an acute exacerbation). Participants wear a device that monitors oxygen levels, breathing rate, pulse, activity, sleep, and skin temperature for three months after leaving the hospital. The goal is to understand how patients recover and to build a computer model that can predict future flare-ups early, so doctors can step in sooner and prevent hospital readmissions.
