First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a virtual clinic where pharmacists monitor blood pressure, adjust medications, and provide telehealth support to older adults (65+) with high blood pressure. The goal is to see if better blood pressure control can also help prevent cognitive decline. About 1,000 participants will use home monitors and a smartphone app to track their numbers over 24 months.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

virtual collaborative care clinic (home blood pressure monitoring, telehealth, medication management by pharmacists)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could offer an effective way to manage high blood pressure remotely, potentially reducing the risk of cognitive decline in older adults.
What could go wrong
This is a phase II pragmatic trial, so results are still preliminary. The approach may not work for everyone, and long-term benefits for cognition are not yet proven.
