New drug targets rare Cancer's genetic weakness
NCT ID NCT06118086
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests a new drug called REM-422 in people with advanced adenoid cystic carcinoma (ACC), a rare cancer of the glands. The drug works by breaking down a specific genetic message (MYB mRNA) that helps the cancer grow. The trial will enroll 125 participants to see if the drug is safe and can shrink tumors.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
REM-422 (a drug that breaks down MYB mRNA to reduce tumor growth)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could provide a new treatment option for people with advanced adenoid cystic carcinoma, a rare cancer with few effective therapies.
What could go wrong
This is an early-phase trial (Phase 1/2) with a small number of participants, so the drug may not prove effective or safe enough for broader use. Side effects are unknown at this stage.
