Simple rehab before ventilator use may shield breathing muscle

NCT ID NCT07427121

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether doing certain breathing exercises or spinal stimulation before using a breathing machine (ventilator) can keep the diaphragm strong. The diaphragm is the main muscle for breathing, and ventilators can sometimes weaken it. Sixteen healthy adults will try one of three rehab methods before a short session on a ventilator, and their breathing strength will be measured. The goal is to find ways to prevent breathing problems in people who need ventilator support.
