First seen Mar 23, 2026 · Last updated May 19, 2026 · Updated 8 times
Summary
This study tests a new rule that lets patients drink clear liquids (like water or apple juice) right up until they are called to the operating room. The goal is to reduce long fasting times and see if this improves comfort, nausea, and recovery. About 1,000 adults having planned surgery will take part.
