New program aims to close colorectal cancer screening gap for Low-Income and minority communities

NCT ID NCT06090643

First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study tests a culturally tailored program to increase colorectal cancer screening among low-income and ethnic minority groups, who are disproportionately affected by the disease. Nearly 10,000 patients aged 50-75 will receive education, consultations, and fecal immunochemical test (FIT) kits. The goal is to improve screening rates and catch cancer earlier, when it's easier to treat.

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

Fecal immunochemical test (FIT) screening program

What this could lead to

If successful, this program could significantly increase colorectal cancer screening rates in underserved communities, helping detect cancer earlier and reduce health disparities.

What could go wrong

This is an implementation study, not a test of a new treatment. Success depends on real-world uptake, and results may not apply to other settings or populations.
