First seen Feb 28, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looked back at 143 people in China who needed a second surgery after rectal cancer treatment because of a leak or tumor return. Researchers wanted to find out what factors help the second surgery succeed and whether patients can regain normal bowel function. The goal is to better understand how to help future patients avoid a permanent colostomy.
