First seen Jan 09, 2026 · Last updated May 21, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This early-stage study tested whether a common antibiotic (ceftriaxone) given as a rectal suppository or tablet works as well as the standard intravenous (IV) injection. 37 healthy Thai adults received all three forms in random order, with a washout period between doses. The goal was to measure how much drug gets into the blood and if the rectal forms are safe and tolerable.
