Could rectal cancer patients skip radiation? major trial underway

Summary

This study is testing whether using chemotherapy alone before surgery works as well as chemotherapy followed by radiation for people with advanced rectal cancer. The goal is to see if the simpler treatment can keep the cancer from coming back for at least 3 years. About 540 adults with resectable tumors will take part in this phase 3 trial across France.
