First seen Nov 20, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 24 times
Summary
This study tests whether adding a natural supplement (β-hydroxybutyrate) to a standard treatment plan can help shrink or eliminate rectal cancer before surgery. The plan includes short-course radiation, immunotherapy, and chemotherapy. The goal is to see if more patients achieve a complete response (no cancer left). The study involves 25 adults aged 18-75 with locally advanced rectal cancer who have not had prior treatment.
