Blood test could help rectal cancer patients avoid major surgery

NCT ID NCT05081024

Summary

This study is testing whether a simple blood test can help doctors decide if rectal cancer patients need major surgery after initial treatment. Researchers will track cancer DNA in the blood of 50 patients with stage 2-3 rectal cancer before, during, and after standard treatment. The goal is to see if the blood test results can predict which patients might safely avoid surgery and instead be monitored closely.
