Experimental pill aims to rev up immune system against Hard-to-Treat tumors

NCT ID NCT05270213

First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This early-stage trial is testing an experimental drug called RBS2418, taken as a pill, to see if it can help the immune system fight advanced cancers that have spread or come back. The study involves 164 adults with various solid tumors who have already tried standard treatments. Some participants will receive RBS2418 alone, while others will get it combined with the immunotherapy drug pembrolizumab or other standard cancer therapies. The main goals are to check safety, find the best dose, and look for early signs of tumor shrinkage.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

RBS2418 (an experimental immune modulator pill) and pembrolizumab (an immunotherapy drug)

What this could lead to

If successful, this could point toward a new treatment option for people with advanced cancers that have stopped responding to standard therapies.

What could go wrong

This is a very early Phase 1 trial with only 164 participants, so it is primarily testing safety and dosing. It may not lead to an effective treatment, and side effects are unknown.
