Could gentle radio waves ease menopause symptoms?

NCT ID NCT06925139

First seen Aug 17, 2026 · Last updated Aug 17, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a non-ablative radiofrequency treatment can improve vaginal tissue health and reduce symptoms of Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM), such as dryness and discomfort, in postmenopausal women. Participants will be randomly assigned to receive either the real treatment or a sham (placebo) procedure over six sessions. The trial will measure changes in sexual function, vaginal health, and quality of life at the end of treatment and three months later.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Non-ablative monopolar radiofrequency treatment
What this could lead to
If effective, this could offer a non-hormonal, drug-free option to relieve vaginal dryness and discomfort and improve sexual well-being in postmenopausal women.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial, and the sham-controlled design means some participants may not experience real benefit. Results may not apply to all women, and the treatment's long-term effects are still unknown.
