New hope for chronic knee pain after replacement? radiofrequency ablation trial launches

NCT ID NCT05920382

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a procedure called radiofrequency ablation can reduce chronic pain in people who still have knee pain after knee replacement surgery. The treatment uses heat to target specific nerves around the knee that may be causing pain. About 86 adults with persistent knee pain for at least 6 months after surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either the real treatment or a placebo, and researchers will measure changes in pain and function after 3 months.
