Summary

This phase 2 trial tests whether adding image-guided radioactive seed implants to standard cancer therapy can improve disease control in patients with 6 to 10 metastatic tumors. About 120 adults with solid tumors that have spread will be randomly assigned to receive either standard therapy alone or standard therapy plus the seed implants. The study will measure progression-free survival, overall survival, safety, and quality of life.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance
Iodine-125 radioactive seeds
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new way to control multiple metastatic tumors by combining standard drugs with targeted radiation implants.
What could go wrong
This is an early phase 2 study with only 120 participants, so results may not apply to everyone. The procedure carries risks like radiation exposure or damage to nearby organs.
