First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a special gel called RADA-16 that is applied to the throat after tonsil removal. The goal is to see if it reduces bleeding and pain compared to standard care. About 134 adults having tonsillectomy will take part and report their symptoms via online surveys for 15 days after surgery.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
RADA-16 hydrogel (a self-assembling peptide gel applied to the surgical site)
What this could lead to
If it works, this gel could reduce painful bleeding after tonsillectomy, making recovery easier and safer.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small Phase 3 trial, and the gel may not significantly reduce bleeding or pain compared to standard care. Risks include allergic reaction or infection at the site.
