Simple QR code video may ease ICU family anxiety
NCT ID NCT07660705
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether giving family members of ICU patients a QR code that links to an educational video can improve their understanding of the ICU and reduce their anxiety. Participants are randomly assigned to receive either standard verbal information or the same information plus access to the video. Researchers measure knowledge, anxiety, and satisfaction at the start, within 24 hours, and again 72 hours later.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
QR Code-Based Digital Educational Video
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a simple, low-cost way to help families cope with the stress of having a loved one in the ICU.
What could go wrong
This is a small, single-center study, so results may not apply broadly. The video may not reduce anxiety more than standard verbal information.
