New study tests which tailbone pain treatment works best
NCT ID NCT07497269
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study compares two types of radiofrequency treatment—pulsed and conventional—for people with long-lasting tailbone pain that hasn't improved with other treatments. Ninety adults aged 18 to 80 will be randomly assigned to one of the two procedures. The goal is to see which method better reduces pain, improves daily function, and enhances sleep quality.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
radiofrequency ablation (pulsed or conventional)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a better, less painful treatment option for people with stubborn tailbone pain.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with only 90 participants. It may not show a clear winner, and results might not apply to everyone with tailbone pain.
