Zapping nasal nerves could stop runny noses
NCT ID NCT06598319
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests a device called NOVOCLEAR™ that uses pulsed energy to treat chronic rhinitis, a condition causing long-term runny nose, congestion, itching, and sneezing. The treatment targets nerves in the nose to reduce symptoms. Researchers will enroll 30 adults who haven't gotten enough relief from nasal steroid sprays. The main goal is to see if symptoms improve 90 days after the procedure and to check for any side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
NOVOCLEAR™ Device (pulsed field ablation device)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a new, non-drug option for people with chronic rhinitis that doesn't respond to nasal steroids.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage study with only 30 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The procedure carries risks like any medical device treatment.
