New device zaps nasal nerves to stop runny nose
NCT ID NCT05591989
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested a device called NEUROMARK in 80 adults with chronic rhinitis (long-term stuffy or runny nose). The device uses radiofrequency energy to disrupt nerves in the nose that trigger symptoms. The goal was to see if it safely reduces nasal symptoms like congestion and sneezing over 6 months.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
NEUROMARK System (a device that uses radiofrequency energy to disrupt posterior nasal nerves)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a long-lasting, non-drug option to control chronic rhinitis symptoms.
What could go wrong
This was a small, single-arm study with no placebo group, so results may not be definitive. The procedure carries typical risks of nasal surgery, such as pain or bleeding.
