New electric pulse treatment aims to tame stubborn heart flutters

This study tests a new type of heart ablation called pulsed-field ablation for people with a recurrent atypical atrial flutter, a fast and irregular heartbeat that can return after prior treatment. About 30 participants will receive this procedure, which uses short electric pulses to carefully scar the heart tissue causing the flutter while sparing nearby areas. The main goals are to check if the procedure is safe and can stop the abnormal rhythm right away, with follow-ups over a year to see how long the benefits last.
