Could a vaccine help us understand PTSD? new study investigates

NCT ID NCT06630884

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study looks at whether short-term changes in the immune system can alter how people process information and experience fear. Researchers will give some participants a typhoid vaccine (which temporarily activates the immune system) and others a placebo. By measuring physical responses like skin sweating and heart rate, they hope to better understand the link between inflammation and PTSD. The study involves 288 trauma-exposed adults, some with PTSD and some without.
