Scientists create a 'Library' of samples to unlock mysteries of early psychosis
NCT ID NCT05340348
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study aims to create a 'patient library' by collecting blood, stool, and hair samples from 250 people aged 15 to 30 who have had a first psychotic episode or are at high risk. Researchers will track their mental health over 10 years using the CAARMS test. The goal is to better understand how psychosis develops and to identify markers that could predict who will get worse.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this library could help researchers better understand early psychosis and identify who is at risk of developing schizophrenia.
What could go wrong
This is an observational study, not a treatment trial. It will not directly benefit participants and may take years to yield useful insights.
