Two-Pronged attack: can adding an antidepressant boost psoriasis treatment?
NCT ID NCT07432815
Summary
This study tested whether adding an antidepressant to standard psoriasis medication works better than the psoriasis medication alone for people who have both psoriasis and depression or anxiety. Forty adults with moderate-to-severe psoriasis and significant depression/anxiety were randomly assigned to receive either methotrexate alone or methotrexate plus the antidepressant escitalopram. Researchers tracked skin improvement and mental health symptoms over six months to see if the combined treatment offered greater benefits.
