Could a prostate cancer imaging tool help fight brain tumors?
NCT ID NCT07428213
First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a special PET scan (PSMA PET) can detect a protein on recurrent meningiomas, a common brain tumor. If the protein is present, it might allow a new type of targeted radiation therapy. The study involves 40 adults whose meningioma has come back after standard treatments. The goal is to see if enough tumors show the protein to justify a future treatment trial.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
PSMA PET imaging (a radioactive tracer for scans)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could pave the way for a new targeted radiation therapy for aggressive, recurrent meningiomas that currently have no standard treatment.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early imaging study, not a treatment trial. It only checks if the target is present; a therapy trial would still need to be done. The approach may not work for all tumor grades.
