First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated May 01, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study tests whether a single 25 mg dose of psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) combined with therapy can safely reduce PTSD symptoms in 35 cisgender women who were sexually assaulted at least 6 months ago. Participants will receive the drug in a controlled setting and be monitored for side effects and changes in PTSD severity. The goal is to see if this approach is safe and effective for easing trauma-related distress.
