Magic mushroom therapy tested for dual diagnosis of depression and alcoholism

NCT ID NCT07405606

Summary

This is a small, early-stage study to see if therapy sessions combined with a dose of psilocybin (the active compound in 'magic mushrooms') is safe and feasible for adults who have both major depression and alcohol use disorder. Researchers will compare a group receiving psilocybin to a group receiving a placebo (inactive substance) to look for differences in safety, side effects, and changes in symptoms of depression and alcohol use. The main goal is to gather initial data to see if this approach is worth studying in larger future trials.
