Prosthetists on the front lines: new study tests if they can catch hidden health risks after amputation

NCT ID NCT05410548

Summary

This study tested whether having prosthetists screen for common hidden health problems during routine visits could improve care for people after a leg amputation. Seventy patients were randomly assigned to receive either standard care or standard care plus extra screenings for issues like poor circulation, nerve damage, depression, and back pain risk. The goal was to see if this approach made patients more aware of their health, more satisfied with their prosthetic care, and reduced unnecessary visits.
