First seen Jun 24, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 2 times
Summary
This study tests whether propofol or lidocaine, given right after surgery, can reduce agitation when children wake up from tonsillectomy. Eighty-two children aged 4 to 7 will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two drugs. The goal is to find a safer, more comfortable recovery for young patients.

propofol and lidocaine
What this could lead to
If one drug works better, it could give doctors a simple way to help children wake up more calmly after tonsillectomy surgery.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 82 children. The results may not apply to all kids or surgeries, and neither drug may prove clearly better.
