Summary
This pilot study tested a text-message based program that sends diabetes education and resource referrals to emergency department patients. 50 adults with poorly controlled or new diabetes took part. The goal was to see if the program improved diabetes knowledge, reduced diabetes-related distress, and helped patients follow self-care steps.
