First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 32 times

Summary

This study tested whether sending diabetes education and resource links by text message to emergency department patients with diabetes could improve their knowledge, reduce diabetes-related distress, and encourage self-care. Fifty adults with poorly controlled or new-onset diabetes received the text-based program. Researchers measured changes in diabetes knowledge, distress, and self-care activities, as well as how acceptable and feasible the program was.
