Walking program aims to boost recovery after blood clot
NCT ID NCT06909240
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a structured walking program, added to standard care, can improve quality of life and reduce long-term complications in people who have had a first deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in the leg. Researchers will enroll 152 adults and compare those who receive the walking program with those who receive standard care alone. The program involves 30 minutes of walking daily, starting at moderate intensity and progressing over time.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a simple, drug-free way to improve recovery and quality of life after a first deep vein thrombosis.
What could go wrong
This is a relatively small, early-stage trial focused on exercise, not a new drug or cure. The results may not apply to everyone, and the benefit may be modest.
