Could a daily probiotic drink help seniors stay stronger?
NCT ID NCT04985877
Summary
This study tested whether drinking a fermented milk containing a specific probiotic (Lactobacillus casei Shirota) daily could help slow muscle loss in older adults with sarcopenia. Researchers enrolled 132 elderly Taiwanese participants to see if the probiotic improved gut health, reduced inflammation, and led to better muscle strength and physical performance. The goal was to see if this simple dietary addition could help control the progression of age-related muscle wasting.
