Gut feeling: probiotic tested for mood and stomach relief
NCT ID NCT07182890
Summary
This study is testing whether a specific probiotic (Clostridium butyricum) can help reduce feelings of anxiety and depression in people who have functional dyspepsia, a common condition causing ongoing stomach pain or discomfort. The trial will involve 180 adults who will take either the probiotic or a placebo (a dummy pill) for four weeks, in addition to their standard stomach medication. Researchers will measure changes in mood, stomach symptoms, sleep, and quality of life to see if the probiotic makes a difference.
