Can prism glasses plus brain zaps help stroke survivors see the world again?
NCT ID NCT05842551
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This pilot study tests whether combining prismatic lenses with mild brain stimulation (tDCS) can reduce spatial neglect in people who had a right-brain ischemic stroke. Spatial neglect makes it hard to notice things on one side of the body. Thirty participants will receive either the real combo or prism lenses with fake stimulation. The goal is to see if the combo improves awareness and daily function.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- prismatic lenses and transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a new rehabilitation approach to help stroke survivors with spatial neglect regain awareness of their surroundings.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very small pilot study with only 30 participants, so results may not apply broadly. The treatment is still experimental and may not show clear benefit over sham stimulation.
