Summary

This study tests a procedure called LOEP that strengthens the hip bone to prevent a second fracture in women over 65 with osteoporosis who have already broken one hip. About 2400 women will either receive the procedure or standard care and be followed for at least 5 years. The goal is to see if LOEP reduces the risk of another hip fracture on the treated side.
