New breathing device could make sedated procedures safer for sleep apnea patients

NCT ID NCT07307560

Summary

This study is testing whether a special high-flow nasal oxygen device can prevent dangerous drops in oxygen levels during sedated endoscopy procedures. The research focuses on 600 patients who are at high risk for obstructive sleep apnea and are scheduled for gastrointestinal exams. Researchers will compare the high-flow device to standard oxygen delivery to see which better prevents low oxygen events.
